McKeldin Library Evacuated After Suspicious Bomb Threat

Earlier this month, the news broke that a UMD freshman was arrested by D.C. police in an undercover child pornography sting operation. The student was charged with distributing child pornography and crossing state lines to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.<br />

University of Marland Police shut down McKeldin Libray Wednesday night for more than four hours after evacuating the building in response to someone asking the library staff a question with “concerning language.”

Greek Week Excitement Begins Over Comical Emails

Greek Life members begin their activities for the week-long celebration.

 
Greek Week is an all greek life event that takes place during one whole week of the Spring semester, this year from April 14 to 21. This year the typically Jewish sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi was paired with the stereotypical Southern fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order. A member from each chapter wrote a comical email on their fraternity and sorority’s listserv on how to best get along with the opposite house, creating a joke in the greek community that some also took seriously.

Many college students will earn their diplomas in the next few months, but as they enter the working world, they’re facing a tough job market. But the UMD students are dreaming big to succeed. Terp Weekly Edition’s Hye Chung asked UMD students what their dream jobs are.

The inaugural Baltimore Marathon was just five weeks after September 11, 2001. Today, after the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15, runners and marathon organizers face new challenges in security.

SGA Starts New Initiative to ‘Fix Up’ Problems on Campus

In the spring students involved in Maryland Greek Life participate in Greek week. This week is filled with activities including athletics, dance competitions and even a burrito-eating contest. Sororities and Fraternities are paired up to increase momentum.


The WTF program will look to fix the lingering issues throughout the College Park campus.

ERC Announces New Cross-Fitness Training Center

The new fitness studio will replace the current sporting good shops already located in the recreational center.

 

The university recently announced that they will be replacing the pro shop in the Eppley Recreational Center with a state-of-the-art cross-fitness training center. As on now, the center is expected to open some time during the summer.

Student-run Comedy Group Looks to Bring More Laughs to the Campus Community

Luke Weineke, the center picture, is the group’s treasurer and been doing stand-up for three years.

Off The Wall is the university’s only student group devoted solely to stand-up comedy. All shows are primarily held in the Stamp Student Union with a first come-first serve seating arrangement. Their Facebook is regularly updated with all of the group’s upcoming and past shows.
